What Motivated Me to Visit Venice?
I set off for a trip to the romantic "lagoon city" of Venice in May 2011. It wasn't that long ago, but I haven't had the time to publish my experiences (being busy with so many business projects)... So here I go - I'm setting the thoughts and feelings free...
After all - if you go now, Venice will still be Venice! What's magical about that city is that it hasn't changed much in roughly 600 years. Although it was founded before 500 AD, most of the city bears baroque and gothic styles, virtually reflecting the same look that it had 600 years ago!
In early 2011 I read articles about the (then) upcoming sprawling Venice Carnival. Coincidentally, during those days I went to a cinema and saw the movie called "The Tourist", which depicted some of the best Venetian attractions.
It wasn't the heist, the action that I liked, but the views... The movie gave raised my curiosity towards the "floating" Venice.
Official trailer of "The Tourist":
Of course, the Venice Carnival is held during the colder months of February - March, before Easter. It's an annual event.
I skipped the colder months and went out in May instead!

Eventually, Venice proved to be a dreamlike or even fairy tale-like (but real!) city. Unlike those plastic artificial theme parks (which I don't like that much), this is as real and as genuine as it can get!
In fact, the reality of Venice left me perplexed. It was such an uplifting experience that it exceeded all of my expectations - the city is way above what you see in movies! And there's a lot more to discover than just those main attractions that get flaunted everywhere in films, TV shows, on postcards, magazines...
