My Escapes Malaysia My First Malaysian Escape Kuala Lumpur Contrastful Kuala Lumpur The Beautiful Medan [...]

The Beautiful Medan Pasar

October 3, 2014
[...]

Medan Pasar is a scenic historic square in central Kuala Lumpur. Miss out on it and you've missed visiting one of KL's most beautiful places.
It was about 10 minutes walking time away from my hotel, so I went out there several times to check it out.

The words "Medan Pasar" literally mean "Old Market"... It's one of the most scenic spots in KL!

Too bad that the lighting conditions were poor, due to either the high-rises that shaded the sunlight or, I went out too late in the evening... so, please excuse me for my dark-toned photos!

Don't miss out on this part of the city... it's a historic site with scenic sights, colourful old buildings with a special architectural style.

While here, again - I encountered what I call "the beauty of decay". My regular readers must understand well what I mean...

Medan Pasar buildings

These buildings needn't be restored. It would ruin the atmosphere.

The powerful vintage feel is reflected from almost all corners of the square. I examined the decaying dirty walls of the colourful buildings for long minutes.

Besides the old decaying walls, the shiny golden skyscraper (seen on my first photo at the top of this page) in the background adds more freshness to the sight!

The area at the time of my visit was a major bus hub in the city

The Kuala Lumpur City Hall has created a heritage trail route, which will help tourists explore the area's old attractions. Of course, the heritage trail runs through Medan Pasar.

At the time of my visit, Medan Pasar was a bus hub, but I suppose this has already changed since then. 3 years have passed.

Just a short walk further away from here was another major attraction, known as Pasar Seni, which is actually the Central Market.

Have you been to Medan Pasar, would you like to go? Don't hesitate to share your thoughts down below...
