The Man Eating Plants of Kuala Lumpur!

May 30, 2014
[...]

Fee-fi-fo-fum!
There I was, like a tiny ant between the huge wild plants of Kuala Lumpur! Immense, scary plants everywhere...
Do they fancy human flesh?

...actually I wasn't on the menu (lucky me!), these plants don't feed on people, not even insects - if you know the story "Jack and the Beanstalk", then you can imagine how it felt.

But the sheer size of some the trees, leaves, frens, the grass and everything froze my blood. Of course, seeing the photos is nothing compared to being there with "them"!

For the first time in my life I actually felt a bit scared of plants!

Even in the smallest green areas, the humble parts where plant life was left untouched by urban development, the area looked like a small jungle. Literally!

...and, the ones that weren't huge were purely warm exotic "temperamental" plants and if felt a bit like they could move, reach out and grab people!

...my imagination is running wild right now...

I know that can tell a thousand words, so I invite you on a visual journey through some of the shots that I've taken...

Beautiful exotic plants

Rather beautiful, nothing really scary yet

Immense leaf in Kuala Lumpur

Huge leaf. Thick, heavy and hard too.

Another large stale leaf

That leaf is immense. But so are my feet! My shoes are immense...
My shoe size is 46 (Europe)/12 (US & Canada)/11.5 (UK)

Beautiful large trees

Beautiful trees. And these are rather normal-size trees...

Slumish area with green exotic vegetation

Slumish area with dense green vegetation and a filthy river flowing nearby... it must be a breeding ground for mosquitoes and lots of other disgusting insects.

Huge tree in Kuala Lumpur

Immense tree with mini cars, mini motorcycles and cute little people walking underneath it (like myself)!
