Weird Caparica Shells
Few people are indifferent towards shells when walking on sandy beaches... I was never indifferent about shells and, even as an adult I can't stop myself from picking a few up and admiring their beauty.
Costa da Caparica has surprised me with some rather unusual-shaped shells...
Besides a few exceptionally beautiful reddish round shells, which I managed to accidentally crack, I saved a few others for a photo.
What I've never seen before this trip to Caparica were the long shells that you can see on the photo below... Some of them were really long I've come across larger specimens exceeding 12-13 cm (around 5 in). But who knows how large they can grow?

Many of the shells seen above are similar to the ones normally found in the Mediterranean Sea, the Red Sea and the Atlantic Ocean...
But the weird long shells were totally new to me. And there were plenty scattered around, some of them still closed.
There's also a beauty in the shell fragments, the splinters of broken shells. Some of them were were softened by the friction with sand for so many years...
