My Escapes Portugal Another Lovely Trip to Portugal! Lisbon In Lisbon Again Munchin' 'n' Brunchin' in Lisbon Again
Munchin' 'n' Brunchin' in Lisbon Again
My return to Lisbon brought me more food experiences...
A few more simple little foods, some cocktail, but I kept it light...
In Portugal, cachorro is essentially hot dog, but mine had a special topping of extra thin fried potatoes and shredded carrots - as you can see on the photo below...
Cost me a mere 2.50 EUR at Parque das Nações.

After having passed under the huge red 25 de Abril Bridge, I came across a boutique that was selling cocktails... almost exactly under the huge bridge!
A gin tonic cost 4.50 EUR and the lady was kind enough to give me the bottle with the remaining tonic water (used to prepare my drink).
Gin tonic "under the bridge", out of the fridge...

The good old Döner kebab is almost always there all around Europe, so it was found in abundance in Lisbon too.
A good cheap source of proteins. This large one cost me 3 EUR only.
Although it wasn't bad at all, I think it was an overshoot having eaten such a huge portion of meat covered with mayonnaise in the strong June sunlight. I felt a bit weird afterwards...

Pastéis de bacalhau (codfish-containing potato pastry) are a Portuguese specialty that you must try.
I wrote more about these on my page about eating in Belém.
Sardines, codfish, tuna are just some of the most popular fish in Portugal. And, interestingly they even have pastry with fish.

Pastéis de nata were my favourites of them all. In fact, I think they got me addicted!
I kept visiting the pastry shops for two-three of these delicacies...
Egg tarts are fatteners, yes! But, I didn't overdo it, so no liposuction was required...

For 5.50 EUR, you can have two slices of pizza like these...
Quite cheap and they weren't that small either.
I bought these at Mercado da Ribeira near Cais do Sodré.

Lisbon is not the best place for eating pizzas, but I'm just giving suggestions here...
I bought this pizza romana in the Baixa area just about 2 hours before my flight. I was killing time rather, but there was this pizzeria, so why not?
Cost me 12.50 EUR with a water.

In Lisbon, you can find much more sophisticated foods than these, nevertheless - I was just showing several simple options for the average traveler.
Today's Lisbon is home to various communities of immigrants who came from even the furthest corners of the World.
I even had a conversation with two guys from Nepal who lived in Lisbon and encountered this Nepalese-Indian restaurant:
Nepalese-Indian restaurant. Nepalese food is quite spicy.
If just hope they don't eat Yeti meat!
