My Escapes Spain Costa Blanca Summer Heat Alicante Alluring Alicante Trip To the Cabo! But Why to Cabo?
To the Cabo! But Why to Cabo?
I set off for Cabo de Las Huertas, following my central Alicante stay.
"The Cabo" has a vaster beach, the Playa San Juan... so, I was expecting something special...
Most foreigners don't wander out to the Cabo de Las Huertas...
The cape called Cabo de Las Huertas is part of the city of Alicante and, it's situated in its northern part. But, people started using the term for and entire neighbourhood, district of Alicante. So, we're not just talking about a cape...
Literally translated, "Cabo de Las Huertas" means "Cape of the Orchard".

Between the geographic cape and the mainland, there is a vast beach called Playa de San Juan and this was my target destination.
It's a huge beach, I saw nice photos of it and I wanted to get a good taste of the place - to feel it on my own skin.
Lots of modern vacation homes, perhaps they've built too many. Few people walk around, there's not much dynamism. But, perhaps this is part of this place's qualities.

In order to get to Cabo de Las Huertas' San Juan Beach, I had to take a metro (rather tram to me) to the distant part of Alicante, which from the central area showed off as a concrete jungle with high-rises - as I looked north.
Volcano's cone? No, it's the Puig Campana strange-shaped mountain peak.

A beach trip to the Cabo is cheaper than one spent at El Postiguet. Cheaper hotels, lots and lots of accommodation facilities and, the beach is so much bigger.
To be honest, I expected a bustling intense beach life there... but I was wrong. To some, it might be boring. OK, more about how it was you can read on this page.
