My Escapes Spain Valencia Frenetic Valencian Escape! Hotel Apsis Splendid, Barcelona - Review

Hotel Apsis Splendid, Barcelona - Review

December 6, 2013
October 14, 2014

Location (8)

Quite easy to find from the Catalunya Square, where my airport bus brought me in.
So, I picked this hotel, because I arrived at night and didn't want to wander around to find a cheaper hotel in the (then) foreign Barcelona.

Look & Feel (8)

The Apsis Splendid Hotel has that fine business hotel look and feel. Elegance radiates from it.
The reception, the lobby, but even my bathroom and room all has this strong elegance in them.
But with some imperfections...

Cleanliness (8)

Quite good. Bed was very clean, bathroom excellently squeaky clean.
But the walls were quite dirty, especially in the hall (between the door and the bathroom).

Room Comfort (8)

Comfy huge double bed, quite good equipment, including cable internet (at that time, WiFi was still a luxury at most hotels).
Except the huge elegant bathroom, which was shiny and simply perfect - the room was a bit wrecked - yet, clean.
What I mean by wrecked: scratched items, damaged lamp, hit walls, scratched walls etc.
I got myself an interior window. I dislike these windows, but this one was huge and pretty good ventilation.

Facilities, Equipment (9)

Internet was fast enough, via cable.
They had a minibar (love these machines!), which I had almost totally emptied.

Staff (10)

Very kind, elegant staff. Very elegantly dressed too.

Breakfast (-)

Didn't require one, so this won't count in this review.

Value for Money (7)

Could be better. But I'd still pick this hotel, if I really needed to stay in central Barcelona.

If you're looking for a relatively cheap mid-range hotel, then this could be it.

Final overall score: 8,28
