My Escapes Spain Valencia Frenetic Valencian Escape! NH Villacarlos Hotel, Valencia - Review
NH Villacarlos Hotel, Valencia - Review
It's located on the Avenida del Port, a wide busy street. It's fine, but you have to walk about 45 minutes to the nearest metro station. It could have been worse!
First I arrived in at the metro station called Amistat, then I decided the Aragón station is more suitable for my city exploration direction.
My overall sentiments towards this hotel's general look and feel was very good, indeed. Elegant place. The mid-range, business-type category hotel.
Excellently well-cleaned, shiny room and bathroom. I can rarely say this about any hotel anywhere.
Good job, indeed!
But: they barely gave soap and they kept forgetting during the last days. Hotel seemed very economic on this issue.
Excellent comfort, indeed. Very comfortable bed, just so long as I didn't move too much, because it would slide here and there!
Once sitting on the bed, it seemed an art to keep it in one place.
Also: too bad that I got an internal window. Ventilation wasn't the best.
Wicked screwed-down (!) minibar door. Looked like either they gave up on offering such a service or, they were afraid people might steal from the minibar (consume without paying).
Very poor internet service. Terrible. I could barely connect and it would disconnect frequently.
What I found especially annoying was the fact that they changed the password for the connection every day. And they didn't even tell me first!
Kind staff, helpful, but they didn't inform me well on everything: misleading when I asked directions to the beach and, they didn't tell me I had to ask for a new password every day.
Plus: despite having pre-paid for the room, I had to give the receptionist a bank card to copy its front - "as a guarantee" - she said. Just in case I "wreck or steal something" (she suggested that, but didn't say it that way).
Quite humiliating, but I understand their point-of-view: some people do cause havoc during their hotel stay.
I didn't ask for one this time, so this factor doesn't count in this review.
The proportion between services offered and the price was one of the best I've ever seen until then.
I'd still pick this hotel for staying in Valencia, in the future!
Final overall score: 7,57
