My Escapes Spain Costa Blanca Summer Heat Benidorm Playa de Levante - Benidorm's Leading Trendy Hot Beach

Playa de Levante - Benidorm's Leading Trendy Hot Beach

December 26, 2014
[...]

I've found the Levante Beach the best one of Benidorm's two major beaches.
Playa de Levante is the trendy, noisy beach that youngsters love. Great views, lots of swanky bars, clubs, good restaurants just a stone's throw away...

So, if you're wondering which beach is "best", I'd say it's Playa de Levante. A roughly 2 km (1.12 mi) long beach set in the city's centre.

Naturally, first you'd have to make sure you know what you want.
If you want "Sun and fun" on a crowded beach where, as described in the intro - fine bars and clubs are a short walk away... then Levante should be yours!

Lots of skyscrapers

Tremendous skyscraper density down there!

Interestingly, this beach bears the same name as another beach down south in Andalucia, in the city of La Línea de la Concepción.
To avoid any confusion, I had to mention it.

Benidorm's leading beach

Cool blue water, cool blue sky...

Levante runs parallel with a bunch of high-rise buildings that are cosntructed along the shoreline.

One thing I've found bothering is that the promenade running along the beach is although roughly a man's height taller than the beach, there is no protective bar or anything to stop you from falling... onto the beach!

Nice view with palm

A handful of palms are found scattered here and there...

The beach is beautiful and your mind may start wondering, while you're admiring the perfect bodies of the Latina dorises cooking in the Sun's light...
And you may step down from the promenade and break your neck!

Watch out for this issue...

Benidorm sand art

Sand artists tend to guard their artwork. There also are water vapour-making decives to keep the work intact for days or weeks.

Otherwise...

The sand is just pure perfect. Nothing has ever bothered my skin.

Beach benches fill almost the entire beach. You may want to rent one.

Strangely, even in the middle of the June summer heat (towards the end of June), the water felt strikingly cold, while the dry sand inland was so hot, it was impossible to walk on.

Along the shoreline it is interesting to find the flat rocks typical to many Spanish beaches - they're flat, like some stairs, huge formations of flat rocks.

No need to be worried, just don't jump into the water at some places...

As for the sea view: it's splendid. You can see the Benidorm Island right in front of you and the beach faces east.
It has 350 m in length and 250 m in width with a maximum height of 73 m, it's as tall as a 60-storey building.

Isla de Benidorm

Ship cruises are organized to the island. If you wish, you can go. Seagulls and mostly cactuses on a rocky island.
For fans of Ace Ventura, I can tell you: it's full of guano!

I adored the Levante Beach and it's really a place you can barely get enough of.

It is one of those "picture perfect" places and luckily, my hotel was near. In 3-4 minutes or even less, I was already out at the beach!

I also recommend you to check the panorama views taken from a mountain found north of Playa de Levante.

Frenetic skyline

Frenetic skyline of Benidorm... Would you believe only 73,000 people live there?
