My Escapes Spain Costa Blanca Summer Heat Alicante Alluring Alicante Trip Playa del Postiguet

Playa del Postiguet

December 26, 2014
[...]

Nevertheless, it's the beautiful Playa del Postiguet, which constitutes the leading attraction of alluring Alicante.
Lovely scenery, hot sun, fine sand, shallow blue waters... under the rock of the Santa Bárbara Fortress...

While Alicante is an extremely popular beach destination, its leading beach is a rather small strip of sand, which can barely cope with the huge demand - one can barely step between crowds of people during high season.

Without any doubt, it's the most beautiful beach I've been to so far...

It's also interesting to note that the Playa del Postiguet (or El Postiguet, as some call it) is centrally-located. In the central part of Alicante.

The full length of Playa del Postiguet is in excess of 680 m, but the best part is around 580 m long. Best part meaning: best sand, best views, direct frontal sea view.

The width (thickness from inland towards the water) oscillates between 40 and 72 m in what I called the "best part" (in the above sentence).

This beach is not only the most beautiful one I've encountered until this trip, it's one of the crowded ones as well. But wait 'til you see my Benidorm trip review.

The fine clean sand was as hot as lava (the most inland, the dryer, ther hotter, of course...), while the water was shallow, but - ice-cold! Perplexing, I know...

When staring at the Postiguet Beach from the Muelle Levante (a long pier), one can contemplate a wonderful view with mountains in the distance.

Postiguet Beach faces east, so you an enjoy the sunlight as the Sun ascends above. But its light will eventually dim as it gets obscured by the Mount Bonacantil.
At night, crowds tend to gather at the beach. Sometimes even partying.
