Why Visit Benidorm?
Benidorm is a sprawling dynamical beach destination, a notorious destinations of the revered Costa Blanca.
With its two huge beaches and an imposing modern skyline, it's one of a kind.
Find concrete reasons for visiting Benidorm in this article...
It might sound like a dilemma to many: should you visit Denia, Calpe, Alicante or Benidorm? Some actually ask similar questions when picking their Costa Blanca beach holiday destination.
If you can't visit all of them and you're split on where you should go, then you'll need clear reasons why you'd visit either one of them.
Based on my Benidorm experience, I created this list of reasons for visiting Benidorm. I hope it inspires you and stimulates you to go to Benidorm!

#1 It Has Two Great Beaches!
Poniente (about 3 km long) and Levante (approx. 2 km long) are the two main beaches. But of course, there are others (quieter and less crowded) as well.
These two wide beaches have incredibly scenic settings, have pure clean sand and the water is quite shallow there as well.
The most popular is Playa de Levante: tends to be jam-packed with sunbathers, it is closes to the centre and, there are lots of swanky bars, cafés and restaurants in its proximity.
At the same time, Playa de Poniente is wider, longer and it tends to have more space, but still crowded. It also has better views and there's a port for departing little cruise boats.
#2 The Skyline Will Blow You Away!
Benidorm has a great skyline and there are several good viewpoints to admire it from.
Of course, I depicted them on the site: I viewed Benidorm's panorama from a northern viewpoint and a particular southern viewpoint (photos taken from a hilltop).
#3 Benidorm Receives 300 Days of Sunshine Per Year
The resort-city enjoys 3,400 hours of sunlight yearly. That's around 300 sunny days. Imagine...
Winters aren't very cold. The temperatures are between 6 °C (42.8 °F) and 16 °C (60.8 °F) in the December-February period.
Some Europeans head for Benidorm during the winter. Although, you can forget about sunbathing and dipping in the ice-cold water, it can be relaxing when the crowds aren't producing noise. Let alone, cheaper...
#4 Lots of Activities
Water-related activities include: kitesurfing, paragliding, jet skiing, kayaking and canoeing, scuba diving and plenty more...
Land-based activities include all sorts of sports and paintball, jeep safaris, mountain-biking even hiking in the mountainous regions nearby.
#5 It's surprisingly cheap!
Despite its flamboyant skyline and fame, Benidorm is not an expensive beach destination.
There are lots of hotels even under 30 EUR per night, which would cost around 50-60 EUR in Barcelona or Madrid.
Having said that, even 50-60 EUR is considered "cheap" on Mallorca and Ibiza. Benidorm is definitely cheaper than the Balearic Islands.
While I can't say restaurants are dirt cheap, you'll find lots of good meals in the 10-20 EUR range and a delicious cocktail can be sipped up in exchange for a mere 5 EUR.
#6 There are Many Amusement Parks
Aqualandia, Aqua Natura, Terra Mitica, Mundo Mar and the Terra Natua Zoo are the big names in the Benidorm area.
If you are with kids, then you'll find a vast selection to choose from.
#7 The Night-life
Benidorm is famous for its night-life, although I've found it a bit rudimentary - don't expect anything like Vegas, Barcelona or Amsterdam. Less elegance, less high-end stuff.
It's a beach destination, so many of the venues feel rather basic, simple.
Benidorm is a preferred destination of British tourists. The night-life is dominated by them. Crowds of Brits gather on the streets, in pubs, bars and restaurants and there are many British-themed venues.
