Reasons to Visit Cuba

June 17, 2015
[...]

If you're only considering to visit Cuba, then you'll need a few solid reasons why you should pick this destination over other Latin American and Caribbean destinations.

#1 A Trip to Cuba is Like a Trip Back in Time

Cuba hasn't been heavily bombarded, nor has globalization ruined its lifestyle and look.
Oddly, thanks to its isolation and communist government, the country has preserved its look and feel better than many European countries.

In order to enjoy the old look and feel, you'll have to hurry, visit Cuba as soon as possible. The country is slowly opening up to the external World and gradually, the vintage feel will dampen, get lost...

#2 Legendary Unique Culture and Atmosphere

Cuba is unique within the Latin American world.
It has a strong identity, a unique feel that requires no introduction. Everyone knows what Cuba is all about.

The Cuban cigars, the vintage cars, jazz music, salsa and ballet, rum, the beautiful beaches and the exotic elegance of Cuban hats. They are all iconic and when blending together, they form the unmistakable Cuban atmosphere.

Ernest Hemingway adored Cuba, reason why he acquired a property where he kept dozens of cats(!).

#3 It's a Quiet Country

Although it's a country that loves music and festivals, it's not an explosive noisy destination - unlike Brazil, Mexico, Colombia or the USA, for instance.

There is a certain type of calmness that's part of Cuban life. Part of it is due to its isolation and poverty.

#4 Cuba is Very Cheap

Getting there may cost you a lot, but cheap hotels in the 15-20 USD range are easy to find.

What costs nearly as much as in the west is food at restaurants and taxis.

Although Cuba has the reputation of being cheap, one has to take account of multiple factors - it's easy to overspend and then, you'll end up paying as much as in any other Latin American country.
