Citin Masjid Jamek [...]
Citin Masjid Jamek Hotel, Kuala Lumpur - Review
Very close to nearby attractions, near the LRT station (Masjid Jamek) therefore it's excellent from this point-of-view!
Although: it's a dirty neighbourhood, it's not like in KLCC area... not only the streets, but the Gombak and Klang rivers looked more like sewage canals and emanated a bad odour. Terrible smells were so strong I could almost see the smells!
For getting around easily, exploring attractions and having transportation means and even shops where you can buy packaged food - this place is very good for staying in KL, indeed.
I love to hear the Azan (from Masjid Jamek) and I have a deep respect to Muslims. But if you are not used to this, it will often wake you up early in the morning.
Loved the design of the rooms and the entire hotel. I think this is more of a "design hotel" instead of anything else...
The corridors on the floors looked a bit worn-down...
The hotel's entrance was hidden by street merchants' stands. Inside, there was poor ventilation.
Clean room, clean bathroom. The latter was a bit worn-down, but was still clean.
They changed the soap and other accessories on a regular basis, every day, every time it was required.
The hotel was very clean inside in the lobby and corridors as well.
I loved the design of the room and the order of things inside it.
Bed was very comfortable. Not too hard, not too soft either. And it was big enough (!). Two person bed. I love those! I could stretch and sleep like a cat on it!
The mentioned naphthalene smell, closed air bothered me quite a lot, so I used the air conditioner as often as I could.
Small white balls were placed here and there on the floor, probably there were insects in the area. Market area, quite possibly a roaming place for cockroaches as well (although, I haven't seen any).
They could have used something else instead of the bad-smelling and toxic (!) naphtaline. I deeply dislike that smell! Very bothering. In fact, I think I felt slight nausea because of it.
Large windows that I could not open...
Thank God there was an air conditioner!
It was very noisy, especially at night and late evening. Terrible! An Indian couple produced a lot of noise during the night for several nights. I could barely sleep.
The room looked fantastic, so the aspect factor would be maximum. I gave it only 6, because of the noise, the bad naphthalene smell, the closed suffocating air and the locked windows.
My view was towards the dirty street. I could see the LRT station in the distance. At least I had a view!
WiFi was excellent. No speed issues. Happened rarely on my trips to have such a speedy connection. Very good, indeed!
The air conditioner adds to the facilities. It worked well. Gave me some cleaned air - which was obviously coming from the dirty street area around the hotel...
I had a very modern flat screen TV, which worked perfectly! Channels were set. Clear image, great sound and well-functioning remote control.
They even had an elevator, which was great as well!
Exceptionally kind, young helpful staff! They were fast as well.
All perfect, all well, I give the kind staff 10!
Very interesting local breakfast! Almost every morning they had something new, something different.
I couldn't even try everything out, they had so many leaves, sausages, noodles, sauces...
The only reason I give it 9 is that quantities weren't enough... Others will have eaten almost everything up by the time I arrived down from my room.
Excellent value for money. It cost about 27 EUR, which was about 35 USD at that time. Great buy for all that was included and the location that gave me access to the transportation network and the plethora of attractions nearby.
Final overall score: 8,38
