My Escapes Spain Costa Blanca Summer Heat Alicante Alluring Alicante Trip Alicante's Beaches

Alicante's Beaches

December 26, 2014
[...]

Alicante has some of Spain's best beaches, so it's a great destination if you're hankering for a warm European beach holiday.
The scenery is beautiful, the sand is clean and the water is generally shallow.

Alicante has several beaches and, on this page I'll present you each one with my recommendations.

These are the beaches you can change from: Playa del Postiguet, Playa de San Juan, Playa del Coco, Playa del Albufereta, Playa de Almadraba. I've marked them on the beach below...

Alicante's beaches:

Playa del Postiguet and Playa de San Juan are the best beaches and the ones I personally tried out. They're both great.
The others are smaller beaches, generally quieter.

Lower on this page, I'll go through Alicante's 4 main beaches. Do not - these are not all the beaches, but the notable ones.

Postiguet Beach

The Costa Blanca has some of the shallowest waters and cleanest beaches with the most sunlight in the entire Europe. An ideal beach destination that I recommend to anyone.

#1 Playa del Postiguet

It's found right in the centre of Alicante, below the Monte Bancantil - the top attraction of the city.

Postiguet Beach has a total length of almost 700 m and tends to be very crowded. Very good clear and clean sand (well-maintained beach), shallow waters.

This beach faces east - exactly the direction where the Sun rises. This is heavenly manna for sunbathers.

Playa del Postiguet

Playa del Postiguet is Alicante's most beautiful beach

If you have no time to see any other beaches, go for Postiguet. It's all Sun and fun and hot chicks running around.

My Postiguet Beach guide will provide further details about this wonderful place.

Hotels and apartments near Postiguet Beach

You could rent an apartment or a hotel room right at the beach front. That way you can run out and back must fast. Less time wasted, beast views.

#2 Playa San Juan (at Cabo de Las Huertas)

The second best (and to some the best-) beach of Alicante is the Playa de San Juan, situated in the Cabo de Las Huertas area.

The Playa de San Juan is the longest strip of clean fine sandy beach in Alicante, with a length in excess of 6.3 km (3.91 mi), but some guides will tell you it's 7 km long (baloney).

Vast Playa de San Juan

Sunny Playa de San Juan, vast beach. But very few people were around

The width of the beach exceeds 110 m and the views are wonderful, great.

Less rocky than Postiguet Beach, this strip of sand faces north, so when facing the water, you will feel the sunlight something mostly from the right hand's side.

For further information, my Playa de San Juan impressions page will provide further information.

Playa de San Juan, Cabo de Las Huertas

Apparently calm, but there are dangerous areas with strong currents

#3 Playa de la Albufereta

The next beach - found just north of Playa del Postiguet is the Albufereta Beach.
Quieter, not as trendy, but with plenty of hotels and other amenities around, it has a length in excess of 460 m (but not in straight line, as the beach itself is found inside a bay).

Albufereta has lower quality sand and there's some rocks there as well. The views are less impressive than at Postiguet and San Juan.

#4 Playa de la Almadraba

Shorter than Albufereta, Almadraba is a short beach with a total length of 660 m, but the best part has a little over 340 in length. And, this beach faces south.

It's not among the best beaches, but one of the quieter ones.

The beach is rockier, not the best quality of sand.
