Kalambaka
Kalambaka (also known as "Kalabaka") is the northwestern Greek town through which you can access Meteora by train from Athens.
It takes ages to get there by train from the capital, but besides visiting the Meteora Monasteries, it's also worth visiting the town of Kalambaka thoroughly.
The scenery is stunning with the gigantic cliffs in the background.
