Escape Hunter

Thankfully, Cuba hosts a large number of appealing events to attend by the traveler throughout the year.
I tried to concentrate on the most important ones and list those only. Here's a list of Cuban events, including the film festival, carnivals, parades and others...

Triumph of the Revolution

The National Day of Cuba is on January 1st, celebrating the victory of the Cuban Revolution led by Fidel Castro in 1959. Interestingly enough, it comes right on the first day of the new year!

Festival del Habano

A Cuban cigar festival.
Held at the end of February every year in Havana, it attracts visitors to trade fairs and seminars, visits to Cuban cigar factories, tastings...

Caribbean Dance Biennial

It's held every second year in March in Havana.
Attracts dancers, choreographers and lovers of dance from all over the Caribbean and even from distant parts of the World.

May Day Celebrations

International Workers' Day held on May 1st every year is intensely celebrated in Cuba with workers' marches in city centres, public speeches and marches at Havana's Plaza de Revolución.

Romerias de Mayo

Held annually between May 2-8 in the city of Holgín.
The Romerias de Mayo consists mainly of a pilgrimage to a wooden cross found on a hilltop near Holguín, where various artists (musicians, actors, painters, writers and dancers) generate a mixed event, sharing their creations.

Carneval de Santiago de Cuba

Another yearly even that takes place towards the end of July in the city of Santiago de Cuba.
This carnival goes back to the times when black slaves used to play their dances and music, which they brought to Cuba from their homeland.

International Havana Ballet Festival

Held yearly around the end of October - beginning of November in the capital, Havana, at the Great Theatre of Havana.

Havana's International Film Festival

The annual Havana Film Festival focuses on Latin American films and directors and has began in 1979.
Awards are given out to artistic films, documentaries, animation films, directors and more.
The event is held in Havana around the first two weeks of December every year.

Havana International Jazz Festival

Jazz has an old tradition in Cuba.
The annual jazz festival is usually held in the second half of December was founded by Cuban jazz musicians and is one of the top events to attend in Cuba.
