My Escapes Portugal Another Lovely Trip to Portugal! Cascais Small, But Beautiful Cascais "Da Fish iz Fryzing"
"Da Fish iz Fryzing"
I just dropped in to Cascais and I was already hungry.
Despite having brunched pizza in Lisbon and having eaten a box of Filipinos (not the people, but the chocolate coated snack!)... I was aching for a bite again.
So, I entered the McDonald's just across the roundabout and I ordered my (usual) Filet-o-fish meal with one sandwich extra.
There was quite a lot of rush at the counter, but it was taking a wee bit more than normally, so the cashier doris tells me to stay cool and wait with these words:
"Da fish iz fryzing"

I couldn't help noticing that the entire meal with 1 extra Filet-o-fish sandwitch cost me roughly 1 EUR less than it would have in a big city in Spain (I remembered last year's brunches at Alicante, Benidorm and Valencia). (Without the extra fish sandwitch it was just over 5 EUR, but with it they charged exactly 8 EUR).
Filet-o-fish is one of few things I can eat at McDonald's. And for temporarily calming hunger, it works quite well.
Some day someone will come up with a propaganda video about the brutality of fishing, which will cut my hunger, but until then: bon appétit!
