My Escapes Portugal Another Lovely Trip to Portugal! Estoril Estoril Walkaround Not Another Guest House

Not Another Guest House

Deep a villa neighbourhood there is an interesting building with unusual architecture and a bit of a historical background.
This is the beautiful "Not Another Guest House"...

Staff told me the building was constructed in Basque architectural style, reason why it strongly differs from other buildings around.

The owners have good sense of humour, naming it "Not Another Guest House".

Find it at Rua Dom Alfonso Henriques 1937.

The guest house has 4 bedrooms and 2 shared bedrooms. Some of which have a terrace. The interiors are very beautiful.

Besides the building, the garden is a quiet green area. Ideal for relaxation.

There is a huge (more than 100 years-old) rubber (ficus) tree in the garden, which constitutes a special attraction, of course.

A unique thing about this "Not Another Guest House" is that it used to be the residence of Hungary's exiled regent, Miklós Horthy, who resided here between 1950 and 1957, until his death.

There even is a plaque on the exterior wall - commemorating Horthy's exile years.
