My Escapes Singapore Return to "Lion City" Vehicle Spotting in Singapore Again

Vehicle Spotting in Singapore Again

May 30, 2014
[...]

My return to Singapore has given me another opportunity to spot more vehicles.
Although this time I encountered only two rather unusual vehicles, I consider the experience wasn't at all less interesting.

Two photos here, this time...

Let's start with the single funny little "apparatus" that rides on 3 wheels and was apparently owned and run by a local homeless (are there any homeless in Singapore, by the way?).

I think it was initially a three-wheeled motorbike used for carrying ice-cream or post or something...

The owner had the vehicle fully filled with his belongings. All sorts of gadgets, statuettes were hanging and an immense quantity of cardboard material was secured to it.

You can't see the frontal driver's section (it was turned away and filled as well and I didn't want to annoy the "pilot").

The homeless guy had a WWII Japanese fighter pilot-type helmet with the characteristic Goggles.

Later, jumped on his vehicle and rode away so fast, I was unable to grab him with my camera...

Kind-of-like a grotesque Mad Max movie character...

My next sighting was of an orange MSW Votec 221, a Swiss light-sport plane. These are built from a kit at home(!).

I wonder if they have discounts for the homeless!

I honestly don't know whether I'd trust a home-assembled plane. I did build static plane models when I was a kid, but I'm not sure about these bite size kits!

Anyway, it was exposed at a shopping centre's entrance in the Orchard area.

It's manufactured by MSW Aviation in Switzerland.

It has an empty weight of just 420 kg and it has a range of 1,398 km (869 mi)!

I don't know if this was just a mock-up or the real thing. From what I know during the time of this visit to Singapore (late June 2011), it was still a brand new model, perhaps with a single prototype only.

If you enjoyed this, you may want to see my previous post about other interesting vehicles that I saw there, several days before...
